Show type: Comedy
Original run of show on ABC: 1970-71
A young British woman, Phoebe, comes to help a widower and university professor with his three children. Phoebe, or Nanny as she prefers to be called, captivates and soon endears herself to the family. At times she seems to be psychic and magical but the family (and viewers) are never sure if this is the case.
The series premiered in January 1970 as a mid-season replacement and enjoyed initial success when it aired between two popular sitcoms. Starting with the third season the show was moved to a different night competing against popular shows on other networks and ratings suffered. Since cancellation the show has run in syndication, on cable channels, and streamed. The series has not been released on DVD by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment (now handled by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment).
